AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION: Gotta Have HeartCHRIS WALL: Heart is attacked by all sorts of bad diseases. Marc McClure is the actor in this spot. He’s a really terrific actor but wasted here. BARBARA LIPPERT: Was that depressing, or what? The heart -- the ultimate symbol humanity -- gets flogged publicly in the street by high cholesterol and then bangs himself into a wall. JIM FERGUSON: The heart association spot was about as funny as a heart attack. First reaction from one of the “ladies” at the party, “Look he’s got a heart on.” |

stupid.
I kept waiting for the heart come back and kick a little ass. Seemed like a really halfly-done Matrix spoof.
I thought, right up until the end, that this was a drug ad for some miraculous new heart pill.

What are you talking about? The Ad Wrestler loved it! And not just because I have mastered all those fighting styles. My life in the ring demands I train with Corona Light as my official cerveza.
I thought this ad really illustrated what dangers are ahead for an overly consumptive America. Admit it, you didn't like it because you wanted to eat your cheese dip without guilt.

"He's got a heart on." :)
After getting "beaten" to a pulp, I was really hoping that he would somehow "spring back to life again"...
No such luck.

I have to disagree with everyone.
This ad was great. There was a message clearly delivered and clearly delivered. There was even a call to action to track the success of the campaign.
There were no animals, no offensive/racist comedy, no nudity, no 3 stooges slap stick and no cheesy animation.
This commercial was the only one to stand out in my book.

As David Carson said, Design Guy, "Don't mistake legibility for communication."
The message was clearly delivered, but in a way that was expected and nearly unemotional.
